common porcupinefish (Diodon hystrix)

The spines on porcupine fish normally lie flat against its body and then point outwards for protection when the fish "inflates" under great duress. This particular common porcupinefish (Diodon hystrix) has backed out of a tight hole, breaking some of it's spines by rubbing them the wrong way.
